This wearable art collaboration connects New York–based artist and illustrator Grace Miceli with a group of young students from Duduk Atas Elementary School in Senggigi, Lombok. Their drawings — full of movement, color, and emotion — inspired Grace to create a design that captures the fearless honesty of childhood creativity. Known for her expressive, comic-style illustrations and themes of vulnerability and connection, Grace saw in the kids’ art a reminder of what drawing is really about: freedom. She reimagined their playful sketches into a powerful, optimistic composition — a piece of wearable art that celebrates imperfection, courage, and the joy of simply making something from the heart.
Grace Miceli, an artist and author based in NYC, is known for her playful and self-reflective work across various mediums, includingillustration, animation, comics, product design, and murals. She has been featured in over 50 galleries and museums worldwide. Grace’s child-like style embraces inaccuracy, which she believes is more authentic to herself. Notably, she has worked with clients such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Nike, and Nasty Gal.

How important is playfulness for Grace Miceli?
I think it’s really important. Humor and play are great ways to feel comfortable enough to access more difficult emotions or to balance out the everyday struggles we face.
