This wearable art collaboration connects New York–based artist Lauren Martin with a group of children from Duduk Atas Elementary School in Senggigi, Lombok. Their drawings — spontaneous, colorful, and full of emotion — inspired Lauren to explore the beauty of raw, childlike creativity. Lauren reinterpreted the students’ artwork into a cosy design that feels both joyful and deeply human. Together they created wearable art that celebrates emotion, play, and the pure connection between imagination and heart.
Lauren Martin, an artist and illustrator from New York City, infuses her artwork with humor inspired by nature and the mundane. In her whimsical world, flowers sprout legs, and fruits sport faces. Lauren’s creative flair extends beyond illustrations; she also plays synth and guitar in the band Frankie Cosmos. Her delightful designs have graced the pages of publications like The New York Times, Paper Magazine, and The Los Angeles Times.

Lauren Martin about the Indonesian kids' drawings
I was really impressed! All the kids are so talented and creative! A lot of the drawing seemed to depict their family or friends, flowers, and animals. It seemed like the kids are all really observant of the world around them.

How Lauren Martin designed his Face This T-shirt
I picked a drawing by Zulhandi because I loved the mountains and palm trees in the artwork – I felt like I could see a narrative emerging.
