This wearable art collaboration connects Finnish-Canadian collage artist Miriam van Neste with a group of students from Duduk Atas Elementary School in Senggigi, Lombok. Their spontaneous, colorful drawings — filled with plants, animals, and abstract shapes — became the foundation for Miriam’s joyful design. Known for her cut-paper collages and love of playful imperfection, Miriam found a creative kinship with the children’s free-spirited approach. She reassembled their shapes into a bold, layered composition that feels both modern and childlike — turning collective imagination into wearable art that celebrates color, curiosity, and connection.
Myriam Van Neste, a talented designer, artistand illustrator, hails from Quebec City, Canada. Her artistic journey began with training as a sculptor in Montreal and Helsinki, Finland. However, her passion eventually shifted toward colorful illustrations. Myriam’s work is characterized by its boldness and playfulness, spanning product and pattern designs, book covers, and murals. She still cherishes the tactile experience of creating by hand, starting each project with scissors, colorful paper, and delightful collage sessions! Some of her notable clients include Chronicle Books, Djeco, Starbucks, Flow Magazine, and Illy Coffee.

Myriam van Neste about the Indonesian kids' drawings
So expressive and endearing. One kid had drawn these really intricate little houses – so wonderful, and I used them in the final work. Kids’ minds are a real treasure trove.

How Myriam van Neste designed his Face This T-shirt
It’s a very different process to start with someone else’s work instead of my own sketches. But the kids’ drawings were so expressive and chaotic (in a good way) and I wanted the end result to feel vibrant and to translate that wonderful energy.
